What will Mateo’s first word be? Sometimes he says something that sounds like “gato” when he sees the cats; today he pointed at Ilya and said “papa.” I refuse to concede that “papa” comes before “mama,” so I’m still rooting for “gato.” Cats before humans!

Well, it turns out it’s humans before kitties. He’ll still say variations of something gato-ish, but he know definitely knows how to say mama and papa and that it refers to me and Ilya, but sometimes he forgets which one of us is mama and which one is papa. I can be cool with that. 🙂
